Online Classes

If you are interested in taking online classes from me, I teach at My Creative Classroom.

Here is a description of the classes that are currently open.

Junk Yard Memory Art is all about preserving our precious memories while making the most of our precious resources. (Whether those resources be your personal finances or the environment.)

Let’s stretch our creative muscles by up-cycling, incorporating, and dreaming up new uses for objects destined for the trash can. Sometimes all you need is a little soap, a few snips with the scissors, a touch of paint and things that you’d normally toss are transformed into amazing embellishments, background paper or mini-albums! You’ll be amazed at how many awesome products you’ve been sending away to the trash heap without a second thought.

Scrapbooking has traditionally been a very expensive hobby with all the designer papers and cute embellishments, but you'll learn in Junk Yard Memory Art that it doesn't need to be! In fact, you are encouraged NOT to buy any new materials. We'll be using up that stash and reaching into the trash for all the necessary ingredients.

One thing is for sure, after 4 weeks of thorough instruction, more than 20 layouts for inspiration, narrated presentations, how-to videos, downloadable PDFs and personal tutoring by professional artist and published scrapbook designer, Bethany Kartchner, you won’t look at your junk or your scrapbooking the same way again!

So let's use up that stash and reach into the trash!

Class begins March 21st

Are you tired of creating beautiful scrapbook pages only to place them in binders never to be seen again? Do you have way too many awesome pictures and chunky memorabilia to place in a mini-album? Would you like to create meaningful and unique home decor?

If so, Shimmering Mixed-Media Memory Boards is for you! In this jam-packed course, sponsored by Shimmerz paints and taught by professional artist, Bethany Kartchner, we'll create beautiful mixed-media memory art to display in your home. Because of their large display format, Mixed-Media Memory Boards allow you to incorporate all of your memorabilia into one place. No longer will you have scrapbooks filled with beautiful layouts, shoeboxes filled with large items and 8x10 framed photos on the wall. You can combine them all into one piece of beautiful memory art worthy of display in your home. We'll be incorporating not only your pictures, postcards and pamphlets, but also large memorabilia like shoes, clothing, rocks and dried flowers. Plus, there's no limit to the number of pictures you can include! With two handmade mini-albums (one fabric and one paper) and one art journal (created out of an up-cycled book), you'll have plenty of room for capturing your thoughts, feelings, impressions and photographs. This is scrapbooking taken to a whole new exciting level! Once you try it, you'll be hooked!

Shimmering Mixed-Media Memory Boards is designed so that you have complete creative control over the theme, color scheme, and composition of your memory board. Whether you'd like to create a board dedicated to a wedding couple, a loved one, a special vacation, a beloved pet, or a sport, you'll be able to apply the class techniques to your own personal project. You'll learn so many new techniques that your biggest problem will be which ones to use! We'll cover the basics of layering, color theory, at least 5 different techniques to create fabulous background texture, 8 exciting ways to use acrylic paint, how to use oil pastels, and how to incorporate gorgeous Shimmerz products to take your project from great to WOW! Plus, when you register for class, you will receive a code for a 20% off your Shimmerz order from the Shimmerz Shop!
